Understanding the requirements

Understanding the requirements

Naturalization has a lot of requirements, so it's important to make sure you understand them. The U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services says that circumstances that qualify for naturalization include...

  • Living as a permanent resident for five or more years
  • Marrying a U.S. citizen and living in the country for three or more years
  • Serving a qualifying period of time in the United States armed forces

Naturalization also applies to the children born on foreign soil whose parents are U.S. citizens.

These circumstances are in addition to the standard naturalization eligibility requirements. For more information, reach out to an immigration attorney at our firm.
